Rugs Carpet

The age-old traditions and techniques of rugs carpet making are passed from generation to generation. The creation of rugs carpet takes dedication and patience, as it is a difficult and time consuming process. Each individual knot of colored wool or silk has to be created by hand to make the design and depending on the quality and size of rugs carpet, it may take a few months or several years to complete.

Hand made rugs carpet can have anywhere between 50 to 2500 knots per square inch, the higher the knot count the finer the rugs carpet. The average wool rugs carpet made in a tribal village will have 50 to 150 knots per square inch, city rugs carpet have on average 100 to 300 knots and there are individual carpet exceeding 600 knots per square inch but they are not common since wool is a thick fiber.

Silk rugs carpet range from 100 to 2500 knots, with a finer example in 500 and knots range.

The knot count can be determined in a specific area of the back of rugs carpet, by multiplying the horizontal with the vertical knot counts.

Village rugs carpet were made by nomadic tribes who had given up their mobile lifestyle and settled in a fixed location, the whole process from beginning to the end is completed by them, and rugs carpet were used as their furnishings. City rugs carpet were commercially made, but instead of one person doing every stage the making of rugs carpet were divided into specialized tasks, from designing and knotting, to washing and clipping. Rugs carpet were made for the tribes own use so they were created in their spare time by individuals. City rugs carpet were produced entirely for the export market and can have 3-4 weavers working at a time for a larger size rugs carpet.
